In business perfectionism can just be the inability to execute

in LeoFinance11 days ago

I was watching either Bloomberg or CNBC at TV and a finance guy said something that simply stuck in my mind: in business perfectionism can just be a reflection of the inability to execute. And was just wondering about that in my case as while I am planning to start a project on the Hive blockchain (like https://www.realtimehive.com) it almost never came to fruition. I say never because even the website is up, at this point is just an extension of an existing clone from Steemit projects. My intension was to fully redesign it using a modern template, rethinking it and imagine new functionalities built around Hive Realtime Statistics. But going one step further I was thinking on how InLeo does things compared to other projects on the Hive blockchain - they don't wait for everything to be right, but rather to be functioning and they are ready for market right away. This should greatness into execution, rather than having the idea of a new functionality or feature rolling over and over again in the mind without coming to fruition.

You learn by doing

Looking at how InLeo has done things, I see that it’s better to release a working version and gather feedback and even submitting bugs than to sit on an idea for months trying to get it “just right.” Real-world feedback from users helps refine the implementation faster and more effectively than endless planning. It is not like "we are testing it in production", but it might be quite close to it, just only in a slightly positive way imo. 😀

Speed beats hesitation

As a general rule in business, being fast to launch and early on the market can mean grabbing opportunities before someone else does. Waiting for perfection often results in missed chances and delays that could cost you your market edge. And also this is how pioneers in different domains are born and usually those end up dominating the space.

Perfection is subjective

Don't get me wrong, in my personal and professional life I am a perfectionist. But that comes with a lot of stress as when I don't see things done right or how I imagine it, I simply find it hard to accept it. But on the other hand I understand that what seems perfect to me might not even matter to the users. Instead of obsessing over details, probably it is better to focus on solving problems and delivering value even if not in the perfect shape.

Momentum builds success

Being present and exposing yourself and your brand to the work is imperative for success these days. Staying in the shadows is not the way to do things anymore as social media is the perfect channel to outreach to new users. By doing this, every small exposure and execution builds momentum, while staying still and waiting for perfection can stall progress entirely. Moving forward, even with minor flaws, releasing a product and going live simply can keep you motivated and drives your project to evolve.

What I’ve realized is that perfectionism can act like quicksand in business - it slows you down, traps you in endless loops of “what if,” and keeps you from moving forward. Instead of waiting for the perfect moment, it’s better to act, adapt, and improve along the way. Execution isn’t just about finishing something; it’s about starting, trying, and growing with each step. Perfect doesn’t exist, but progress does, and that’s what truly matters. And I hope in the future to move more towards that, execute first, improve as we go. This is the way!

People start a business and say that luck did not support them, so the business did not succeed, so I would like to say here that to make the business successful, you have to create a different state and then you have to work hard day and night. So there will come a time when the business will be successful.
