We keep hearing a lot of bad news about road accidents and major things that happen during the night time. There are several reasons why we should avoid night drive. I understand that it can be fun to drive vehicles at night because there will be no traffic at night. If we are lucky there can be close to no vehicles on the road during the night time which will be tempting for us to take more speed.
This article is not trying to be fully negative but I would like to highlight some of the bad aspects of night driving and why the drivers should avoid it.
Drivers can get sleepy
This is the biggest problem. Drivers can get sleepy during the night time. The main reason is because night time is supposed to be the sleeping time for everyone. It is not about our driving alone. Yeah we might get sleepy and that's why we should avoid but at the same time the drivers who are coming in the opposite direction can also get sleepy and that can end up in accidents. It is better to avoid night driving for this very reason.
There can be drunk drivers
Drunk drivers are a big problem in India. It is a rule everywhere and I think across the world that people shouldn't be driving if they are drunk. In some countries, it is allowed if people drink only a little but in places like India, it is not allowed at all. it is not advisable to take risks and drive if people are drunk. Here again, the same logic applies where we might be driving safely but there can be drivers in the opposite direction who can be drunk and be a threat to us. It is safe to drive during the daytime so that we get more visibility and feel safe about it.
Roads can be bad
Roads are not very great in India. Some roads are very bad and some roads are bad in certain places. During night travel, it is hard to predict where we have good roads and where there can be bad roads. If we are going at a high speed and if a bad road with lots of bumps pops up, then it can end up dangerous for us and sometimes we might lose our control. At least during the daytime, we will be able to see the road and be a little more confident about it.
Next day is spoiled because of the night drive
Usually, when we stay awake during the night time, it can be very hard to focus the other day. Even though we try to compensate by sleeping more, it is hard to predict if it will be fresh the next day or not. Mostly we might feel drowsy or sleepy the next day. If we end up driving in the night, it is better to take rest for the first half of the next day and take care of the work in the remaining part of the day.

different strokes for different folks , some individuals like to drive in the night because they feel the road is usually free during the night time. However in a place where security is not a basic amenity one needs to be cautious when navigating during the night time.
Drivers are responsible for most of the accidents, drivers may fall asleep during long journeys. And there are many truck drivers who drink. So drivers should avoid intoxicants and should sleep regularly
