A few years ago, a student at the University of Indonesia (one of the leading universities in Indonesia) with the initials AAB, had the heart to kill his friend with the initials MNZ. The crime was committed because AAB wanted to control MNZ's assets after the perpetrator suffered losses due to investment in cryptocurrency.
I once wrote an article about this in an online media in Indonesia with an emphasis on the risks of cryptocurrency investment. The story of crypto investment is indeed full of drama, both for those who have succeeded or have succeeded, and for those who have failed. Starting from just a whim or hobby, many crypto (cryptocurrency) investors get big profits and can then buy other "real" assets such as cars and houses.
Profits from crypto investments in the long term that reach thousands of percent of the initial investment, make many people—especially the younger generation—interested in getting involved in it. Some are successful, but not a few then sink to the bottom of the ocean and make reckless decisions to solve problems with bigger problems.
The dream of big profits makes investors blind, not only to the risk of losses faced, but also to the point of committing crimes such as robbing and taking the lives of others, as in the case of UI students.
Understanding is not enough
Experts and investment advisors often liken crypto trading to racing a Formula-1 (F1) car that is traveling at high speed. Crypto trading is a land jet with various risks.
Understanding the risks alone, without adequate self-control, is not enough. This is the same as understanding how to drive an F1 and being able to memorize the functions of the 18 buttons on the steering wheel. When the car skyrockets plus the pressure to stay ahead (read: make a profit), then high expertise and concentration are needed.
It is not wrong if many investment advisors then advise prospective investors to start from safer races, such as in mutual funds and stocks with more controlled risks. The protection system in stocks is safer for investors even though it still has its drawbacks. The law of high risk high return still applies.
Using a clear source of funds—not hot money—is also highly recommended. Many investors get into trouble precisely because they invest in assets that should not be used for high-risk investments such as crypto trading. Some investors use arisan money to buy crypto. There are also social media groups that claim to use credit money to buy certain cryptos, the prices of which then plummet and are even delisted from trading and exchangers.
Choosing a safe type of crypto and exchanger must also be a concern. There are 219 types of crypto that have received permission from the Commodity Futures Trading Supervisory Agency (Bappebti) which can be used as a reference. However, it must be updated again because crypto trading is very dynamic while Bappebti regulations on types of crypto were issued in 2022. Many prospective cryptos are currently at low prices which are the choice. Now, supervision of cryptocurrency transactions in Indonesia has been under the Financial Services Authority since January 10, 2025.
Creative on investment
One of the investment methods in the crypto market that experts rarely mention is creativity without capital. There are several social media platforms based on blockchain and crypto technology that can be used to collect crypto for free.
One of the popular platforms is hive.blog. This platform has the most users in Aceh, even more than users in Indonesia as a whole. Creators in Aceh have even become leaders of various international communities. They have a high influence in supporting types of content and curating posts from all over the world. This potential is rarely glanced at by potential investors because it requires consistency in creating content in the long term.
From several meetings to attract more users on both platforms, young people are not interested because they think short-term. They want to get quick money from posts so they don't appreciate the process and hard work.
After joining and making posts, they stop because they don't get the profit they expect. In fact, when they actively post photos, videos, and other short articles on other social media such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, or Tiktok, they also don't get any awards in the form of material, except for a few people who have been consistent content creators.
The point is, there is no instant way. Everything requires sweat. If you want to succeed quickly and get money, become an investor by buying as much crypto as possible to increase power on the two platforms above. But once again, this investment carries a high risk, in addition to the opportunity for big profits.
Creative investment in crypto-based social media platforms is a cheap and easy choice because it can be done while channeling user passions such as in writing, photography, video, culinary, tourism, art, sports, and so on.
Easy community reach from all over the world is also a positive value for building networks while deepening several international languages. Once you dive in and are in the ocean of platforms, a user can get thousands of possibilities to mine crypto for free and get other benefits.
Creative investment by becoming a content creator can be combined with efforts to get airdrops from several types of crypto before launch. Many free airdrop hunters have succeeded, although for some people it is considered tiring because sometimes they collect worthless micin coins and then disappear from the market. But as an alternative to creative investment, there's nothing wrong with exploring it.

Investing in crypto and others requires an active and dynamic community to update information, learn, and minimize risk. There are a number of communities that are ready to share experiences and opportunities to earn money in various ways without investing money.
