Hahaha, Elon seem so consumed by competitive spirit right now.
I have a feeling he is not really competitive so much as he has a vision and does everything to try to fulfill it. That seems to be his history.

X is actually the blending of Twitter and the plan Elon had for PayPal.

I would say that Elon is the Web 2.0 version of Web 3.0. He will not convert over due to control but he does see the merging of social media and finance.
He is not building a social media platform. It is much bigger.
