Procrastination is the greatest enemy of mankind. It is one of the monsters that causes failure, backwardness, excuses, and deception. Procrastination is when one begins to postpone things he or she is supposed to do at a particular time thereby feeling lazy. This particular act does not mean well to anyone. Instead of moving forward, you end up going backward because you did not do what you were supposed to do at a particular time.
This was one habit I was battling with to put an end to but it was difficult because I was so used to allowing myself to get caught up in the web of procrastination. It affected me a whole lot until I began to consciously fight it by staying determined to checkmate myself, making efforts to curb laziness, and doing those things I am supposed to do rather than postponing them. One should consciously watch out for those things that signify procrastination. Without having an understanding you will not be able to fight the monster of procrastination.
There are ways to signify that procrastination has set in
When you suddenly postpone things that you should have done today to the following day when nothing has occupied the time you should have done those things. Then procrastination has set in. This will cause backwardness because instead of doing something else the next day you will have to start doing what you had moved over to the following day and this eats up your time.
When you suddenly lose interest in the things you want to do that is an indication that procrastination has set in. You must decide to consciously make an effort to fight by determining to do what you have always wanted to do without losing focus or interest.
When you see yourself sleeping all the time, the little time you have you sleep rather than working to ensure you are productive. Instead of putting in more effort to do something meaningful, you see an individual spending most of his or her time sleeping. This can only be avoided when the individual develops an interest in being productive rather than being inactive. However, sleep is good for the human body because, among others, it keeps the body healthy. Excessive sleeping becomes a problem when you use the time for work and then sleep it shows that you are unproductive.
Procrastination erodes self-discipline and self-esteem, making it harder to overcome future challenges. Addressing procrastination involves developing better time management skills, setting clear goals, and building motivation to tackle tasks promptly. Procrastination should be avoided and individuals should make a conscious effort to do away with procrastination as it is a bad habit that obstructs people from going forward in life causing failure and backwardness. All the time, the body needs to be pampered, however, over-pampering the body will not speak well of you because you are going to lose out on so many opportunities in life. So procrastination will certainly stand as a barrier to our future so we must fight it.
