Audience and crowd is what makes the Olympics as well as any other sport fun . Although I would still watch it without crowd , it will be less fun and the hosting country will lose a lot in terms of tourism .

Yea I agree. But I bet you many stores in Japan created Olympics goods for the tourists. So I guess it will be going to waste and all the money these companies pushed for favorable stalls/etc are probably gone.

Totally , India is thinking of bidding to host Olympics ( in 2032 , it's a decade away ) but it is already making preparations , it is started to build all the necessary stuff for it so it is understandable that those countries which are hosting in the coming years already would have invested so much into it :(

Didn't think of that but there was probably a lot of money already laid out that will just have to be eaten.
Will further impact the economic situation there.
