In the 1980s, I was in the Army and stationed at Fort Lewis. On any clear day, and most rainy days, I could see Mt. Rainier from my barracks on the north side of the fort. It was absolutely beautiful.

I was in SW WA so St Helens and Hood were the daily mountain peaks to see. Some times Rainier and Adams if you found yourself in the right spot.
