RE: ⚠️A few Hive and GLS community members colluded to steal more than 250k USD // Biggest theft since Justin// The GLS exploit explored

QuoteWhat did you mean by the sheriffs flagging you? Is that watchers? What does stealth mined mean in this context?

stealth mined or ninja mined were the tokens registered before the blockchain started, before block 1. I've made a mistake, as the stake who was used for downvotes was not ninja mined, but early mined, which is different. I complained here only about the proceedings, as people tend to look into the posts after debates to downvote, when someone does not agree with them. Again, don't complain about the downvote, but the proceedings, as it has happened in the past and will probably happen in the future.

This whole outcry and flaming does more harm than good to the project in the long run. My approach would be the following, but it is my point of view:

  • analyse what happened, also highlighting who dumped the price after, as the ones who did it, did not do it, as they burned the tokens for profit.
  • what measures can be done to prevent such happenings in the future - implemented
  • improve the economy - either by issuing a card for 1000 pack holders, or reward the ones who did not skim the airdrop
  • reward the bigger investors with some perks and maybe cut the airdrop for the non investors.

To be fair man I'm not sure it matters objectively whether I or others hold 1000's of packs or 0.

Skin in the game always matters, the more, the better.

What happened is what happen, if a HIVE or SPL whale or minnow with no connection to GLG views this as a trash move and wants to act accordingly, that's their prerogative. I think it's right for everyone to know and understand what happened.

It is good to know, but accusing of stealing, where nothing was stolen, is a little too far-fetched. Economy is weak, as most dump the tokens. We need to admit this. Everyone sees as an airdrop, where everything can be dumped. I did dump most of the airdrop and will probably buy everything back at a % of the initial sale. This is the market.

I am surprised that anyone views this any other way than Matt and Aggy called it directly, "manipulation" and "an exploit" at this point. A lot of people suddenly changed their minds when both of them condemned and were truly disappointed that the oracle attack came from within the trusted circle of our community members on the following GLS townhall. I have heard multiple respected SPL streamers talk about this issue briefly and all have either had the wrong or incomplete information (potentially from just catching snippets of the gaslighting in the discord) or skipped sheepishly around the issue trying to not take a stance.

They are forced to, too much peer pressure. Yes, it was a market manipulation, but they risked their own funds, this needs to be also mentioned. Would the sale pressure be higher, they might have lost the investment.

Presumably as these people now (or maybe not if they dumped the project they profited off by damaging) have a massive stake and have colluded before. These are members with (or had) large sway and influence.

Most no, they are there and hold to the stake, as far as I can see, they believe more in the project as the 0 stake holders that like to agitate spirits.

Like mentioned, this whole thing is damaging more the project than the initial manipulation. It just scares investors. I believe it still has potential, and knowing the people involved, they will probably deliver. That I still wait so that people will dump more, is another thing, as I wait that the price goes even lower, to buy a big chunk into it.

I will buy also packs, as I like football, and given the popularity rise in the USA, it can unfold to a nice surprise, if the game is done well.

We need to be constructive on this matter, not destructive going on witch-hunts, which don't help.

Sort:

The general public outside of this space, especially consumers and gamers in particular, which would be the target market; many already view these projects as scams or shady by default and don't want to touch them.

Do you know why that is?

It's not because someone pointed out shady behavior. It's because the shady behavior occurred in the first place.

You said those taking advantage of a exploit were "the smart ones."

The actual smart ones, they knew ALL THIS would happen, which is why they didn't take the actions required to shoot themselves in the foot. Common sense...
