Part 3/11:
Unlike traditional therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE), which involves exchanging large volumes of plasma, inspheresis utilizes a small filter that cleanses the blood without removing substantial amounts of plasma. This process involves drawing blood out of the body via a needle, splitting it into its components (red blood cells, plasma, etc.), passing the plasma through a specialized filter, and then recombining everything back into the bloodstream.
The main goal is to eliminate a variety of harmful substances, including:
Inflammatory proteins
Heavy metals
Microplastics
PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances)
Volatile organic compounds (VOCs)
