Despite ongoing resistance, there was a perceived rise in military strength and control until a dramatic shift occurred in late October 2023. On October 27th—a date now known as Operation 1027—a coalition known as the Brotherhood Alliance launched an unprecedented offensive. This alliance comprises three major ethnic armed organizations: the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army, the Tang National Liberation Army, and the Arakan Army. Together, they swiftly captured hundreds of military outposts, strategic towns, and key locations along vital trade routes near the Chinese border in northern Shan State.
