Limited Medical Infrastructure for Chronic Care
Unlike city hospitals, outlying islands typically have few clinics—sometimes only one or two—that may not fully address long-term healthcare needs. Pikel, a small island with under 1 square kilometer of land, has about four clinics, including a 24-hour outpatient center. Still, there is a perceived gap when it comes to providing comprehensive, ongoing support such as daycare centers or elderly homes.
