The theatrical and Broadway circuits that nurtured comedy talents have diminished or shifted away from comedy, reducing opportunities for emerging comedians to develop and adapt their acts to mainstream audiences. The invasion of "politically correct" sensibilities has also limited the scope for satirical or edgy content, further shrinking the comedic ecosystem.
