The procurement of advanced aircraft, including Rafale jets from France and F-15EX fighters from the United States, is constrained by fiscal realities and reliance on foreign loans.
Additional challenges include the lack of comprehensive undersea terrain surveys and inadequate maintenance of existing vessels, issues exemplified by the sinking of KRI Nenggala. Without upgrading maintenance practices and underwater infrastructure, Indonesia’s maritime capabilities risk remaining underdeveloped.
