The lifecycle continues as crustaceans, such as prawns, consume the larvae, becoming secondary hosts. Fish feeding on these crustaceans inadvertently ingest the larvae and become infected. When humans eat raw or undercooked infected fish, they become accidental hosts. Fish caught in the wild tend to carry more parasites than farmed fish, which are raised in controlled environments with lower risks.
