Part 4/11:
Vocational Training and Real-World Skills
Empowering youths with disabilities involves more than classroom education. Several centers provide vocational training, enabling students to develop practical skills for employment. For instance, in India, students are taught to open bank accounts, craft beaded jewelry, and sell their products—experiences that foster independence. Such programs combat the high unemployment rate among disabled individuals, which approaches 64% nationwide, with a stark gender disparity—only a quarter of women with disabilities are employed.
