The pervasive presence of these extreme examples prompts several critical questions: Are we witnessing a cultural descent into spectacle and morbidity? Or are these acts expressions of individual agency pushed to the limits by social media trends? And importantly, how should platforms and society respond?

While some acts—like the emotional mourning of a lost limb—might be understood as personal coping strategies, the public sharing of such moments blurs lines between private grief and entertainment. Others, like the rib removal and dissection videos, seem driven purely by vanity, curiosity, or shock value.
