Part 3/10:

A key chemical, PFOA (perfluorooctanoic acid), was historically used in manufacturing PTFE and has been linked to health concerns like cancer and liver damage. As public awareness grew, manufacturers began phasing out PFOA by around 2014 and replacing it with a chemical called Gen X, which belongs to the same family of “forever chemicals.”

The Risks of Forever Chemicals

Despite the name, “forever chemicals” such as PFOA and Gen X are notorious because they do not break down easily in the environment or in the human body. These chemicals are persistent, capable of traveling long distances through air, water, soil, and even reaching remote regions like Antarctica.
