Simultaneously, another crucial shipment is underway—1,500 kilograms of fresh New Zealand cherries destined for Singapore for Chinese New Year celebrations. The cherries are harvested from meticulously managed orchards in Central Otago, renowned for their sweetness and high sugar content thanks to dry summers and harsh winters. The harvesting window is tight; cherries are handpicked early in the morning when they’re firm, before the day heats up and they start softening.
