As the park closed its doors, the real work began. The park’s dedicated keepers and veterinarians meticulously prepared each bird for the transition. The process emphasized minimizing stress and ensuring safety, especially for highly intelligent and sometimes aggressive species like birds of prey and cassowaries. For instance, the prehistoric southern cassowary, affectionately known as Old Lady, underwent desensitization training using treats to encourage voluntary entry into moving crates, reducing the risk of injury during transit.
