Coffee berry borers pose a serious threat to coffee cherries, tunneling into the fruit and reducing harvestable yield. Fortunately, natural pest control is used, such as predator wasps that hunt these pests, minimizing the need for chemical interventions. Additionally, farmers utilize controlled fermentation processes during coffee cherry processing to prevent larvae from surviving, significantly reducing crop loss — from nearly 30% to less than 4%.
