Part 2/12:
The initial protests that erupted immediately after the coup have largely dissipated, but the rage and defiance grow in rural areas and among ethnic minorities. Among those fighting against the military regime is Sotinn, a 23-year-old university student, who fled Yangon after the military crackdown and joined Myanmar’s oldest rebel group, the Karen National Liberation Army. Young fighters like Sotinn are risking their lives daily in armed resistance, often in ethnic minority-controlled regions such as Shan State and Rakhine State, where opposition figures claim that more than half of Myanmar's territory is now under rebel control.
