During the attack, Amaranth and reportedly her husband defended themselves. While initial reports circulated that her husband was the one who fired the shots, Amaranth’s own social media statements claimed she was the one who discharged her weapon. The police confirmed that her husband did indeed fire at the intruders, resulting in two of them being shot.
Despite the confusion over who fired the shots, what remains clear is that Amaranth’s household was under siege. Living in Texas, a state known for its self-defense laws, the couple legally protected themselves against the threatening intruders.
