During its peak, Chinese workers constituted half the workforce at this site, exemplifying the deep Chinese involvement in Iran’s energy infrastructure. Despite sanctions, estimates suggest China imports approximately one million barrels of Iranian oil daily. With oil prices hovering around $80 per barrel, even after discounts, this translates to over $3 billion per month flowing into Iranian coffers from Chinese buyers alone.
