Part 6/14:

Vietnamese coffee exports, which rely heavily on shipping through the Red Sea, have been particularly affected. Faced with increased shipping costs and delays, Vietnamese coffee producers are struggling, with prices hitting 28-year highs and export volumes declining. Similarly, India’s rice exports—especially premium Basmati rice—have been disrupted, with freight charges soaring by up to 150%. Indian farmers and exporters are bearing the brunt, with export volumes halving year over year due to the perilous rerouting.

Vietnam’s textile industry has also seen setbacks, with already declining exports of about 5-6% in 2023. Parallel to this, fertilizer imports from regions like Russia—crucial for Asian agriculture—have been hampered, complicating farming activities and food security further.
