Part 2/11:
Professor Salah's journey is one marked by resilience, innovation, and compassion. Born in Myour, India, she moved to the United States at age 11 to join her father, a professor of engineering at Auburn University. Growing up as a self-described bookworm, she later pursued medicine, eventually establishing her career in Singapore—a decision influenced by her husband's choice to stay and serve in the Singapore Army.
Her commitment to improving patients' lives began early, driven by a desire to add years to their lives and life to their years. This philosophy underscores her advocacy work, which has earned her respect from colleagues and patients alike. Her life motto—"to add life to people’s years and years to people’s lives"—captures her holistic approach to medicine.
