Building a New Autonomous Region: The Bangsamoro Organic Law

The peace agreement laid the framework for establishing the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region, replacing the older Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM). Key to this new setup was the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BO Law), ratified in 2019, which provided for self-governance, fiscal autonomy, and regional control over key sectors. A transition government was formed, with leaders appointed by both the Philippine federal government and the Moro community to oversee the region's development.
