Part 2/6:
Over a span of seven weeks, Wu and his crew embarked on an arduous journey across South and Central America—traversing Ecuador, Colombia, Panama, and Mexico—to trace the perilous pathways these migrants undertake. Their goal was to understand not only the logistics and dangers of the journey but also the deeply personal reasons compelling these individuals to leave their homeland.
Throughout their travels, the filmmakers encountered a diverse array of migrants—families, parents, children, and individuals like Lucy, Uncle Wong, and Auntie L—each with unique stories rooted in desperation, hope, and resilience. These personal narratives amplify the stark realities faced by those fleeing China, driven by economic hardship, political uncertainty, or social pressures.
