Unique Characteristics and Market Potential
Resembling a bowling pin, the Trenu Melon is celebrated for its perfect size, sweet and juicy texture, and a slight crunch on the outside with a soft interior. Its taste rivals Japanese varieties, with a long shelf life of four to five weeks—becoming sweeter as it ages if uncut. Farmers like Raj Nordiana, with over a year in the business, believe these melons could outshine imports, particularly since they are sold at a fraction of Japanese or Chinese prices.
