Part 5/12:
In response to the rising rat sightings, a grassroots “Rat Them Out” task force has been formed. The initiative encourages citizens to actively report sightings via social media and dedicated apps, resulting in a real-time heat map of rat activity across Singapore.
Within just a few weeks, the effort yielded over 600 reports, with neighborhoods like Hougang, Tampines, and Toa Payoh emerging as hotspots. A resident from Toa Payoh, Candice Lee, contributed detailed maps of her neighborhood's rat hotspots, showing the areas she believes are most affected. Her proactive reporting has provided authorities with valuable data to focus their control strategies.
