Flooding is a recurring nightmare in parts of Indonesia. Coastal flooding from high tides and river overflow threaten communities with inundation. In Mumbai and other coastal areas, urban drainage and sanitation infrastructure are inadequate, exacerbating water logging and disease transmission. These environmental hazards threaten to make some cities uninhabitable if proactive measures are not taken.
