Transformers films often deploy product placements that are out of place and poorly executed. A glaring example is in Transformers: Age of Extinction, where a Budweiser commercial is embedded within the narrative during a chaotic scene. Rather than focus on the action, the scene slows down to show bottles and trucks, culminating with the hero actually drinking a beer on-screen.
This moment not only breaks the tension but also serves no narrative purpose. It exemplifies how product placement can:
Disrupt pacing, especially in high-stakes action sequences.
Degrade the storytelling, by emphasizing brands over plot or character development.
Add unnecessary runtime for mere promotional exposure.
