One of the most visually impressive moments of the franchise is the infamous halo jump in Mission Impossible: Fallout. This scene features Tom Cruise, then 55 years old, jumping from a plane without a stuntman or green screen—truly in the flesh. The sequence involves a complex rig and a specially built camera mounted on the plane, with a helicopter flying alongside for wide shots. Achieving this required numerous test jumps; the plane had to complete 11-minute laps in the air for each take. Tom Cruise even learned to hold his breath for an astonishing six and a half minutes to shoot an underwater sequence in a single, continuous take. Such feats of endurance and skill exemplify how far the Mission Impossible team goes to maintain authenticity.
