Part 11/14:

Society's Complicity and the Normalization of Risk

The normalization of surgically altered appearances and risky online behaviors is a symptom of a society obsessed with superficial success. Young people grow up seeing heavily edited images and viral videos, believing that instant gratification and artificial perfection are the norms. This perception fosters body dysmorphia, low self-esteem, and an eagerness to pursue fame at all costs.

The phenomenon extends to “shock content” videos, often staged or exaggerated, that garner millions of views. Examples include individuals committing minor crimes or humiliating themselves in public—videos that, once uploaded, could encourage others to imitate dangerous or illegal acts, risking serious legal or physical harm.
