Fortunately, CHP's collaboration with OnStar proved pivotal in safely bringing the vehicle to a stop. By leveraging OnStar’s remote intervention capabilities, authorities were able to decelerate the vehicle electronically right on the highway. This approach eliminated the need for dangerous maneuvers such as pit stops or spike strips, significantly reducing the risk to officers, the suspect, and the juvenile passenger.
The vehicle eventually came to a safe halt south of Lakeville, at the shoulder of the highway. During this conclusion, the female driver exited the vehicle along with the juvenile, prompting law enforcement to quickly move in and ensure their safety.
