The film’s creative direction also drew criticism. Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s character, who is meant to be Indiana Jones’s goddaughter, was considered unnecessary by many. The film’s attempt to introduce new characters and younger leads felt forced and did little to elevate the story. Some critics suggest that instead of rebooting or continuing the franchise with familiar actors aging poorly, it might have been better to create new stories or focus on different characters altogether.
