Alex recounts his childhood in a context that was often physically isolating and emotionally confusing. Born with cerebral palsy, he spent much of his early years confined to a wheelchair, navigating a world not designed for his needs. Interestingly, he describes how his lowest class of students, during primary school, was often placed on the highest floors of his school building, requiring him to be carried up multiple flights of stairs—an experience that heightened his feelings of exclusion.
