Part 5/12:

Land Loss and Rising Sea Levels

Projections indicate that by 2050, sea levels could rise by 1.5 meters. This causes significant land loss—up to 11% of Bangladesh's territory may be submerged—and threatens the homes of over a million coastal residents. The encroaching saline water contaminates freshwater sources, degrading agricultural productivity and posing serious health risks.

Water Scarcity and Health Concerns

Access to safe drinking water is increasingly strained due to salinity intrusion and contamination of underground aquifers. Many residents, especially women and children, suffer from waterborne diseases and poor sanitation. For example, children under 19 million are considered highly vulnerable to the adverse effects of climate change-related water issues.
