Part 10/15:
One notable example is the search for the “Skanda on Peacock,” a revered Khmer sculpture looted from a temple complex and believed to be in a private U.S. collection. Investigators used descriptions from looters, photographs, and geographic clues—such as the presence of a stone base—to trace its journey. Through collaboration with local villagers, some of whom have become informants, they pieced together a trail that at times crossed borders, from Cambodia to Thailand, then to international markets.
