Rokbit’s operation wasn't limited to the hospital alone; over 30 companies and entities had been targeted in recent attacks, underscoring the widespread nature of this cybercrime wave. The malware was not only encrypting data but also destroying logs that could trace the intrusion, making attribution and investigation difficult.
Because of the attack, the hospital could no longer access essential systems such as imaging (MRI, CT scans), dialysis, laboratory data, and other diagnostic tools. As a result, over 85,000 pieces of patient data were rendered inaccessible, creating a bottleneck for medical services.
