Prime Minister Narendra Modi's “Panchamrit” plan envisions not only the expansion of solar but also a fivefold increase in renewable energy capacity overall. Today, India holds about 115 gigawatts of solar, wind, and biomass capacity, with plans to become a global renewable energy leader. This rapid growth is partially driven by the rise of renewable energy jobs—over 111,000 in large-scale projects alone—though still under the 1 million jobs targeted for 2030. The challenge, however, remains significant: transitioning millions of workers from fossil fuels, particularly coal miners, to renewable sectors.
