Part 2/15:
A shining example of India’s renewable ambitions is the Pavagada Solar Park in Karnataka. Located in a semi-arid, drought-prone region of Andhra Pradesh, the village of Rayachaloo and surrounding areas have historically endured frequent droughts, forcing residents to migrate in search of livelihoods. However, since the park’s completion in 2019, this landscape has been transformed into a major clean energy hub, sprawling over 13,000 acres (about 53 square kilometers) and boasting a capacity of 2,015 megawatts. This vast array of solar panels has turned previously uncultivable dry land into a productive energy source, serving as the third-largest solar park globally.
