The overall tone of disillusionment is palpable among many observers. As political misinformation proliferates and celebrities become pawns in larger campaigns, some find themselves disengaging, feeling overwhelmed and helpless. There’s a sense of the 'black pill'—a belief that individual effort is futile against a wave of misinformation and scripted activism.
This fatigue is compounded by the realization that many of these staged moments—like Williams’s staged political scream—do little to change political landscapes. Instead, they serve as reminders of how much of modern activism has become performative, detached from real grassroots movements or substantive policy debate.
