Victims being led to workshops are often unaware that they are being funneled into fraudulent claims. Workshops, motivated by high margins, inflate damages — sometimes by as much as 200% — and submit exaggerated assessments to insurers. This results in higher payouts, which are shared among touts, workshops, and unscrupulous surveyors.
Additionally, since many surveyors are unlicensed and operate without regulation, the estimation process is often compromised, further allowing inflated claims to pass through insurers undetected. In some cases, inflated claims are directly linked to kickbacks, creating a cycle where all parties profit illicitly.
