Rescue efforts were swift, with friends and neighbors digging through the thick mud using their hands, as no tools were available. Amidst their efforts, another wave of tremors prompted the survivors to abandon their rescue attempts temporarily and run for safety, fearing further landslides. Emergency services, including the fire department (Bomba), were alerted early in the dawn hours and coordinated the rescue operations, which continue to this day.
