Nino West's participation at the premiere was not an isolated incident. Disney has been increasingly integrating LGBTQ+ themes into its programming for children. In 2021, the company hosted a Drag Queen Story Hour event aimed at children of Disney employees, in which drag performers read children’s books and celebrated gender fluidity. Additionally, Disney’s Pride concert on Disney+ featured multiple drag queens performing reimagined Disney songs with LGBTQ+ lyrics, further normalizing such themes for a young audience.
