The film’s attempt at exploring themes of identity and agency is hampered by a thinly written character of Eve Kim, whose character arc is mostly told through expository dialogue rather than shown. Greta Lee’s performance is underwhelming, with her character resembling a Mary Sue—remarkable only after she believes in herself—and lacking authentic emotional grounding.
The villainous Julian Dillinger, played by an underused Gillian Anderson, is portrayed more as a power-hungry girl boss than a fully fleshed-out antagonist, further emphasizing the film's superficial approach to storytelling.
