Part 3/16:
This week’s discussions turned divisive and pointed when evaluating Marvel’s recent offerings. The much-anticipated Fantastic Four trailer, meant to relaunch the iconic team, was scrutinized heavily. Although the first shots exuded a promising retro-futuristic aesthetic, the silver surfacing debut—literally—the film’s version of Silver Surfer, was a disaster. Instead of the comic-book hero’s majestic silver sheen, the CGI looked painfully unpolished, resembling a low-budget Maya plugin rather than a powerhouse character. The community majority concluded that Marvel’s decision to cast a female Silver Surfer was a misguided, ideologically driven stunt, resulting in a character that looks disconnected from the iconic source material.
