Part 9/12:
Osama bin Laden’s trope—an overly powerful, psychotic villain—fits the bad Superman mold, which is increasingly stale in today’s superhero landscape. The villain, paid with exposition akin to a law school lecture, ultimately underwhelms, culminating in a predictable endpoint.
The Final Act: A Disappointing Conclusion
Perhaps the biggest disappointment lies in the film’s conclusion. The team, after a series of half-hearted action sequences, defeats the villain not through cleverness or bravery but via a group hug—a muddled and anticlimactic resolution that undermines its own stakes. The villain, Bob, who was introduced as a near-omnipotent threat, is easily subdued, further dulling the movie’s tension.
