Part 4/12:
Characters: A Motley Crew of Stereotypes and Parodies
The cast is a parade of caricatures. Viola Davis shines in her role, displaying impressive martial arts skills and a commanding presence—beating up foes twice her size with ease. Yet, her character embodies modern feminist tropes: a strong, hardworking woman who had to fight twice as hard for her success, only to reveal she's largely a figurehead with a past that’s less action hero and more accidental hero.
Homelander, portrayed by Anthony Star, is a perfect caricature of toxic masculinity—a bitter, livestreaming crypto villain who plans to crash the global economy. His motivations include deepfake disinformation campaigns and murder, pushing the film into the realm of farce.
