The most contentious aspect for fans is how these storylines diverge sharply from Tolkien’s original lore. For instance, the recasting of characters like Gil-galad (referred to as Gadel here) suggests a departure from established lore, adding to the sense that Amazon’s adaptation is prioritizing modern narratives over fidelity to the source material.
